Plum Baby food
We have a growing range of adventurous organic baby food. Our recipes taste as good as home made and have been designed specifically for each stage of your baby's weaning. We add the supergrain quinoa to every recipe.
Why give quinoa to my baby?
We believe that quinoa is the perfect food for babies - much better nutritionally than rice. This point of view is supported by nutritionists such as Suzannah Olivier who recommend giving quinoa to babies. We call Susie the 'Quinoa Queen'!
it's naturally gluten-free...
This makes it easy for babies to digest. (No baby under 6 months should be given a product containing gluten as it is unsuitable for immature digestive
tracts).
it's a fantastic source of protein...
In fact, its ‘profile' of amino acids (which make up protein) is very similar to breastmilk, once again making it a brilliant weaning food. (Babies shouldn't be given meat, fish or dairy products until at least 6 months so they can't get protein from these sources).
it's a valuable source of minerals...
The minerals in quinoa are great for a baby's growth and development - namely iron, calcium and zinc. Compared with wheat, quinoa contains 1.5 times more calcium, over three times more iron, and twice the amount of zinc. Compared to rice and maize, the ratios are even higher. Your baby's iron reserves may start to drop after 6 months so it is good to consider introducing natural sources of iron such as quinoa (whereas ‘follow on' formula milks are artificially enhanced).
it's a good source of healthy fatty acids...
For example the EFA linoleic acid (part of the
omega-6 family) - now officially recognised to help the development of your baby's brain - and oleic acid (omega-9 family) - also found in olive oil.
it's a natural source of Vitamin E and thiamine (Vitamin B1).
Quinoa is every one of our recipes.
We use a flaked form of quinoa in our recipes, which is specially prepared to babyfood standards, and makes a beautifully smooth texture when soaked in water.
The texture of ‘standard' packets of quinoa available in most supermarkets is too ‘chewy' for young babies. But it is ideal for older babies (9 months plus), toddlers and grown ups!
A range of smooth purees, suitable for first weaning. Made from 100% organic superfood ingredients.

A super smooth puree - glossy with fruit. It is a subtle combination of flavours with a mango distinction that is heaven sent.
