Shortlisted for Mother & Baby Award

Our deliciously wholesome Four Grain Super Porridge range has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Mother & Baby award for Best Baby Food/Drink category 2008.

Each year there is a record number of entries, and making it onto the final shortlist in this category is a great achievement for Plum Baby and one we are all very proud off. Especially as we are only 2 years old!

We will have our fingers and toes crossed until next Thursday (13th November) when the winners will be annouced.

You might laugh at the title, ’sign up to become a Plum Agent’, but we went barking mad just thinking of a title - patrons, friends, ambassadors, super mums, but they all sounded rather lame. So, Agents it is. MI6, James Bond, why not. Truth is, we have a thing for Daniel Craig so humour us!

So, we want to recruit 20 existing advocates of Plum Baby, to help us continue to be truly original, exceptional and world class. If you want to be one of these chosen few for our first round of recruitment, you will have the chance to get truly involved with our brand, tasting samples, researching and marketing on our behalf, to be treated like a real job. We will value your feedback and will be rewarded with special discounts and gifts. Sorry we can’t offer an Aston Martin, but we are working on it!

We believe we make really great baby food, and have broken the mould when it comes to taste, and speaking up for babies, heralding a baby food revolution even; (according to The Times). Be a part of this amazing journey, enjoy the opportunity to meet and blog with other likeminded parents.

More than 5,000 Chinese babies have been given the name Olympic Games (in Chinese, that’s Aoyun).

However, they won’t be seen as too unusual when they get to school, as it is not uncommon for children in China to be given names relating to popular events or slogans! Other examples include Defend China, Get Rich, Stay Healthy, Strong Nation and Space Travel!

Powering through the zillion of emails and facebook messages this afternoon, I noticed a fab recommendation from my friend Jean. In her own words ”pushymothers.com!! the only way to get fit after having a baby?!!! its really fun..”

Pushymothers.com are fed up with the media hype around celebrity mums who show off their miraculous weight loss and perfect bodies within weeks of their babies being born. It takes nine months to make a baby and for most women it’ll be at least nine months to get back on track doing the right exercises – not the abdominal crunches and running that many celebs and their trainers talk about. These type of exercises are not postnatal specific and could be dangerous.
So their message is simple…… Push Don’t Rush!

Have any of you been to these classes? Or is there something similar you go to in your area? Either way we’d love to hear about how you try and keep fit (with or without your baby) after your little ones arrival x

Sadly not all my children were with me on Saturday, but Ben and I worked frantically hard preparing for a garage sale that was not meant to be!

We thought with the temptation of elderflower cordial and chocolate cookies (with an extra kick of Ecuadorian Cacao Nibs) we would be rushed of our feet……sadly not one person came!!

With the thoughts now heading to a car boot sale for this weekend, I wondered how you  all spent Family Day? Any exciting adventures?

This is Gump, the 10 week old black labrador. He reminds me of a lion cub with his huge paws, and I am rather hoping that he behaves when he comes into the office and not widdle everywhere. Suffice to say, it is a love thing.

For those of you who are avid Plum Blog watchers, Susie and Rachel were jumping 12,000 feet out of an aeroplane to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital back in April.

Great Ormond Street Hospital was a perfect choice as it is a world-class children’s hospital, with the broadest range of paediatric specialists under one roof anywhere in the UK.

Sadly, due to the unpredictable British weather, Susie was unable to jump (but will be shortly) but Rachel embraced the VERY early morning the next day and was one of the first jumpers!

Between them both they raised over £1500 for the charity and would like to thank everybody for there support x

Thank you to everybody who came and visited our stand at The Baby Show in Birmingham last weekend. It was a huge success and we are thrilled that we were able to feed 2,200 of your little plums. I think we have all just about recovered, but hearing your feedback and positive comments makes it so worth while - there is a lot of love for Plum out there!

The most popular recipe over the weekend was Red cabbage, with apple & chicken, followed closely by Blueberry, banana & vanilla (one of our personal faves!)

At the show we launched Plum Vision, and we were amazed and delighted with the huge amount of love and support both you and your babies had for it. Please don’t forget that it is free online and you can watch it at any time at www.plum-vision.co.uk

Beetroot is not known for being the most exciting of vegetables but research released today’s show it is enjoying a revival, not only in the form of juice, but in our babyfood too!

Beetroot is derived from the maritime sea beet and has been highly esteemed from as far back as Roman times. It’s health giving properties are also an added incentive to feed to your baby, or you!

Did you know that Beetroot is a rich source of carbohydrate, good source of protein and high levels of important vitamins and minerals, particularly iron, magnesium and foelic acid. It is also a great source of fibre so excellent for little ones!

We appreciate that Beetroot isn’t always an ingredient that would be on your shopping list, but we dare you to try it at least once this week. We love and recommend this website for some inspirational recipes!
